Roses In The Hedgerow- Primitives And Garden Treasures

Someday I'm going to have a store with a tinkly bell hung over the door
with real glass cases and counters wide and just about everything inside
Pots and kettles and crockery
Seeds in packets and flowers too
I'll fix the window and dust each shelf and take in the money all by myself
It will be my store and I'll say
what can I do for you .. today ?

Home & Garden Journal...

May 2009

I thank God Every day
For the blessings he brings my way
He smiles down upon me
For happily in my garden to be
My hands in the warm soil
On bended knee
Thanking God for all the blessings
He has given me....

Gail Brunke

Here in my home and garden journal you'll come and visit all the goings on in and around my life , home & gardens . Take trips to wonderful barn sales, garden shops , old-fashiond fruit stands & cider mills...

We live in the midst of gorgeous apple farm country , a stone throw from Lake Ontario, and minutes from the Finger Lakes, where there are some of the finest wineries around the country..

They say gardening is an addiction- And I'm here to tell you.... It's True.....
Every winter, I sift through seed catalogs- dreaming of Spring time.

Now that it's here, I am rushing around trying to get each garden bed cleaned up, and see all my plants waking up after their winters nap. As you can see in the pictures, Steve and my grand-daughter Lancy helping with Spring clean up. Wheelbarrows full of dried ornamental grasses.. Oh- I'm addicted to grasses toooooo..... Plant them everywhere- I do.. Shown also is a picture of last years veggie gardens- ready for planting, and a robin announcing Spring has arrived, and of course a picture of one of Spring's storms coming on in. As New York Spring weather goes- sunny and 60 degrees one day and 32 and snowing the next. So much to do & so little time to do it.. lol....

This year- having my own website, and selling at our new local prim shop- I am going to be doing a lot more planting...

In my herb gardens, I'll be planting more thyme and rosemary and fever few just to name a few.... Oh- these are wonderful plants to harvest and dry, and they do so well in my dried bouquets and other projects...

More gourds, pumpkins, and Indian corn.. New seeds I just ordered, such as Purple Majesty & Purple Baron.. These are dark purple, almost black millet. They dry so beautifully and are wonderful for fall decorating, and so easy to ship too.. Tons of Sunflowers, as I've always had a special place in my heart for those glorious flowers. Each year I plant my favorites and await the new arrivals.

So, I hope you like this little piece of my website and come back often to take another journey with me, as we go on new adventures...

Gail
